Hermann Henrich Meier junior
Hermann Henrich Meier (born December 21, 1845 in Bremen ; † August 9, 1905 in Bad Harzburg ) was a German lawyer, entrepreneur and art patron.
biography
Meier was the son of the founder of North German Lloyd Hermann Henrich Meier . He graduated from the old grammar school in Bremen and studied law at the University of Göttingen , the University of Heidelberg and the Humboldt University in Berlin . In Göttingen he received his doctorate in 1868. iur. He worked in his father's shop and in 1872 became a partner in HH Meier & Co. In 1871/72 he made a major trip to Great Britain .
Meier was very interested in music and art. For many years he was chairman of the Kunstverein in Bremen , one of whose successes was the inauguration of the Kunsthalle Bremen in 1902 . Meier built up a considerable collection of modern graphics and bequeathed a large part of it to the art association for the art gallery.
