Hermann Jansen (photographer)

Franz Hermann Jansen (born June 6, 1877 in Krefeld ; † January 9, 1963 Cologne ) was a German photographer and publisher.

Life

Nothing is known about Hermann Jansen's curriculum vitae, only his photographs and publications show that he was able to successfully sell his work to publishers. He issued postcards with Cologne motifs in his own publishing house. From 1911 to 1963 he had his studio in Cologne. He last lived in Cologne-Nippes .

Jansen died in 1963 at the age of 85. He was widowed by Elisabeth, born Breßer, whom he married in 1918.

Jansen's most successful picture of Cologne Cathedral from the west was honored in 2006 in the historical archive of the city of Cologne (Severinstraße), curated by Wolfgang Vollmer, in a separate exhibition with over 200 exhibits: "Cologne Cathedral West Side - Career of a View".
