Hermann Küster (theologian)

Hermann Küster (born June 7, 1813 in Lüneburg , † June 20, 1897 in Stade ) was a German Lutheran theologian, consistorial councilor and general superintendent of the general diocese of Bremen-Verden .

Life

Küster was born as the son of the senior syndic Heinrich Küster in Lüneburg. He attended the Johanneum in Lüneburg and studied Protestant theology at the Universities of Göttingen , Halle and Berlin . In April 1835 he passed the exam praevium and came a little later as a collaborator in charge of the business of the second inspector at the school teachers' seminar in Hanover. After the theological exam (1838) he became second inspector on May 1, 1838, and first inspector on September 12, 1839. On December 2, 1850, he was appointed school councilor and speaker in elementary school matters at the Ministry of Education in Hanover. In 1853 he became pastor primarius and superintendent in Alfeld (Leine) , in 1859 high school inspector and clerical member of the consistory in Stade and in 1875 general superintendent for the Duchy of Bremen-Verden with an official seat in Stade. At his own request, he retired on July 1, 1885, but continued to run the business until October 1, 1885.
