Hermann Kasten (local history researcher)
Hermann Kasten (born June 8, 1866 in Ebeneow , Saatzig district , † July 1946 in Potsdam ) was a German teacher , local historian and poet . He dealt with the culture and regional studies of Pomerania .
Kasten worked as a school principal in Köslin . He died after being expelled in July 1946 on a transport in Potsdam .
He published two local history works: His “Pomeranian Poetry of the Present” was published as a celebratory gift for the 33rd Pomeranian Provincial Teachers' Meeting in Köslin. In 1926, together with Karl Müller, he published the homeland book “Pommerland”. The Heimatbuch appeared in 1983 as a reprint with a foreword by the Pomeranian homeland poet Klaus Granzow .
Kasten also wrote poems. He is represented in the anthology “Pommersche Lyrik” (1913) edited by Max Guhlke , as well as three poems in the volume “Pommersche Literatur” (1969) compiled by Fritz Raeck .
