Hermann Kirchhoff (architect)

Hermann Kirchhoff (born March 2, 1825 in Grimmen , † January 18, 1890 in Koblenz ) was a German architect and construction clerk .

life and work

Hermann Kirchoff's father was a lawyer and mayor of Grimmen. He attended high school in Köslin until 1842 and then did a surveyor apprenticeship until 1846 . From 1846 he studied at the building academy in Berlin and graduated in 1849 with the construction manager examination. This was followed from 1849 to 1852 a practical activity in renovation work in Nieder-Oderbruch. From 1852 to 1856 he carried out private buildings in Berlin as an employee of Friedrich Hitzig . From 1853 to 1855 he was the construction manager at the lighthouse on Greifswalder Oie . By 1856 he built villas, residential and commercial buildings in the Tiergarten district in Berlin as well as buildings and a bridge on Hildebrandt's property. In 1855 he became a member of the Berlin Architects ' Association. In 1857 he passed the master builder examination. From October 1857 to January 1868 he was employed as a district master builder in his hometown of Grimmen. In 1868 he became a building inspector with the government in Marienwerder, in January 1870 superstructure inspector and in January 1873 government and building councilor. In 1882 he was transferred to the government in Koblenz, where he was promoted to the secret building officer in 1889.
