Hermann Kruse

Hermann Kruse , also Latinized Crispinus (* before 1560 in Edewecht ; † September 20, 1599 in Doberan ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman.
Life
Kruse, who came from the county of Oldenburg , studied theology at the University of Rostock from May 1560 . In the summer semester 1564, he graduated to a disputation, chaired by David Chytraeus to Bakkalar . At an unknown point in time, he became a master's degree .
After the death of the last abbot Nikolaus Peperkorn, the dukes Johann Albrecht and Ulrich jointly appointed him as the first Lutheran pastor at Doberan Minster in 1564, exercising their summit episcopate . He held this office until his death.
Kruse was buried in the minster. The stone, originally colored Renaissance grave slab covering his grave was erected on a wall in front of the Bülow Chapel during the redesign of the cathedral in the 19th century by Gotthilf Ludwig Möckel and restored in 2007. The tombstone shows Kruse in full figure in a Renaissance frame. He holds a goblet, as on pre-Reformation priestly grave stones , but is clad in a scholar's costume ( scabbard and ruff ).
In his will, he donated the Crispin scholarship to students at the University of Rostock.
