Hermann Loretz

Martin Friedrich Heinrich Hermann Loretz (born October 7, 1836 near Holzappel ; † July 15, 1917 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German geologist and paleontologist .

Life

Loretz was the son of a hut owner in the former Duchy of Nassau. From 1876 to 1901 he was at the Prussian Geological State Institute (PGLA), where he became a state geologist (1883) and secret mountain ridge.

He dealt with the geology of Thuringia. In 1883 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
