Hermann Michael Goldbrunner

Hermann Michael Goldbrunner (born May 17, 1933 in Landshut ; † May 17, 2004 there ) was a German historian .

The son of a family of teachers attended grammar school in Landshut and, after graduating from high school in 1952, studied classical philology and history at the University of Munich . 1956 took place the first state examination for the higher teaching position. In 1958 he received his doctorate with Rudolf Pfeiffer with the thesis Studies on Sophoclean Rhesis . From 1958 to 1998 he was head of the library of the German Historical Institute in Rome (DHI). Goldbrunner was a corresponding member of the central management of the Monumenta Germaniae Historica . Goldbrunner turned to humanism research. In 1963 and 1972 he published two essays on Perugia under Gian Galeazzo Visconti . He also published extensive articles on the history of education in the 18th century, fascism and the history of the GHI.
