Hermann Munz

Hermann Munz (* 1923 ) is a former German diplomat who was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Jordan between 1979 and 1985 and then Ambassador to Luxembourg from 1985 to 1988 .

Life

Munz completed after high school to study at the Faculty of Arts, University of Tübingen , and laid there on August 21, 1952 his promotion to Dr. phil. with the dissertation Karl Friedrich Reinhard, a Swabian in the service of revolutionary and consular France , in which he dealt with the French diplomat, statesman and writer of German origin Karl Friedrich Reinhard . As an employee of the higher foreign service, he found employment in the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn and in various missions abroad, such as in 1957 as legation secretary at the embassy in France . In 1969 he was a lecturer in the Legation and Deputy Head of the Department for South and East Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and on April 8, 1969, he became Deputy Head of Department 203, which deals with Mediterranean issues and the states of Portugal, Spain, Italy, San Marino, Holy See , Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Malta and the Order of Knights of Malta was responsible. He was then promoted to Head of Unit 203 on June 18, 1970, and as such, on October 29, 1970, to Lecturing Councilor, First Class.

In 1979 Munz succeeded Horst Schmidt-Dornedden as ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Jordan and held this post until 1985, after which he was replaced by Herwig Bartels . Most recently, he replaced Günter Knackstedt as ambassador to Luxembourg in 1985 and held this diplomatic post until he retired in 1988.
