Hermann Neef (musicologist)
Hermann Neef (born September 28, 1936 in Berlin ; † August 24, 2017 in Beverungen ) was a German music and theater scholar .
Life
Neef worked for the Deutsche Schallplatte company in Berlin from 1960–1973 . Since 1973 he has been at the Komische Oper Berlin , and since 1981 Neef has been a lecturer at the State Ballet School Berlin .
He wrote - often together with his wife, the musicologist Sigrid Neef - scientific treatises on opera research as well as record reviews, specialist articles and several ballet libretti (e.g. on music by Richard Wagner , Jean Sibelius , Franz Schreker , Igor Stravinsky and Werner Egk ).
