Hermann Nortmann

Hermann Nortmann (born June 30, 1955 ) is a former German disabled athlete and multiple participant in Paralympic Games .

Career

Hermann Nortmann comes from the Emsland . As a result of a serious motorcycle accident , he has been paraplegic since 1976 and is dependent on a wheelchair . Finding himself for the archery interested and competitive sports would operate, he founded in 1988 in Werlte the Bogensportcub Werlte e. V. and became its 1st chairman.

He was soon one of the top German athletes in wheelchair archery. In 1992 he was a member of the German team at the Paralympic Summer Games . He successfully participated in both individual and team archery competitions. In the team fight he won the German team and thus a gold medal, while he was second in the individual and thus reached the silver medal. He was also successful at the 1996 Summer Paralympics and won a gold medal with the wheelchair team. He was also at the Paralympic Games in 2000 and 2004 with the German team, but without reaching the medal ranks.

He then devoted himself to building up his club in Werlte, especially its disabled area. In 2010 he took part again in a German championship and was German champion in his age group in Karlsruhe .
