The Pfanner GmbH is an internationally active Austrian beverage producer and is run as a family business in the 5th generation. According to the company, around 80 percent of the production of over 420 million liters is sold in over 80 countries. The main markets of the company headquartered in Lauterach in Vorarlberg are Germany, Italy, Austria and the Czech Republic.

Pfanner claims to be the market leader for iced tea in Germany.

In 1856 Max Hermann Pfanner bought the “Gasthof Hirschen” in Lauterach and founded an inn brewery . In 1919 his grandson Hermann Pfanner took over the business and expanded it in the following ten years to include trading in agricultural products, among others. a. Wine and spirits.

In 1933 he produced fruit juice for the first time. After Hermann Pfanner's death in 1944, his wife Ferdinanda continued to run the business with her children. Thanks to clever management and technical innovations, she was able to hand over the business to the new generation ( Hedwig , Hans , Erwin and Egon Pfanner ). These expanded with the fruit juice trade across the borders of Europe and passed the business on to the next generation in 1988. The Pfanner GmbH was founded. In 1984 the company received the state award and has been allowed to use the federal coat of arms in business transactions ever since .

In 2001 fruit juice production began in Germany ( Reinbek near Hamburg ).

Pfanner is still a family company - the Pfanner , Schneider and Dietrich families run the company.

The Lauterach fruit juice manufacturer increased its sales in 2007 by 11.3 percent to 228 million euros. Pfanner was also able to steadily increase sales in the years that followed. In 2019, the highest turnover in the company's history was achieved with 295 million euros.

Products

The range includes around 210 products, the best known being the fruit juices that have been produced for decades. In addition, the company also manufactures other products in the field of soft drinks. The packaging variants Tetra Pak, Elopak, SIG combidome, PET bottles, glass bottles and cans are filled here. Pfanner is number 2 among Europe's iced tea brands - according to Canadean UK, an English market research institute for the beverage industry.
In the main market of Germany, Pfanner has been number one for iced tea since 2001. In addition to production for its own brands, Pfanner also operates as a contract filler for partner companies. Since taking over the production facility in Policoro, fruit juice concentrates and purees have also been increasingly sold.

Pfanner and Fairtrade

Pfanner has been a Fairtrade partner since 2001 . According to its own information, today Pfanner is the largest volume partner of Fairtrade in the fruit juice sector worldwide and offers by far the most extensive range. In 2014, an iced tea made from Fairtrade ingredients was launched on the market for the first time. During the almost 20-year partnership, around 150 million liters of FAIRTRADE drinks were sold. In October 2018 Pfanner won 1st place in the FAIRTRADE Award.

Production facilities

The company has locations in Austria, Germany, Italy and the Ukraine . In addition to the headquarters in Lauterach, the largest production facility is located in Enns (Upper Austria) as well as one further each in Reinbek (Germany), Policoro (Italy) and Bar (Ukraine).
