Hermann Stefánsson

Hermann Stefánsson (born July 25, 1968 in Reykjavík , Iceland ) is an Icelandic writer and musician .

Education and career

After graduating from high school at Háskóli Íslands in Reykjavík, Hermann Stefánsson studied Icelandic and general literary studies and obtained a BA in 1994 and an MA in general literature in 2001. He also studied abroad, more precisely in Spain.

Afterwards Hermann Stefánsson worked as a freelance scientist and translator as well as literary critic for the daily newspaper Morgunblaðið , the state broadcasting corporations RÚV u. a. He also taught at the University of Iceland for a time and worked as a lecturer in publishing houses.

The versatile author lives with family in Reykjavík.

Writers and musicians

His first book came out in 2003, a poetics called Sjónhverfingar . A year later a collection of short stories followed under the title Níu þjófalyklar . After that, the volume of poetry Borg í þoku and the novel Stefnuljós as well as radio plays appeared. In 2008 the novel Algleymi was published and the volume of poetry Högg á vatni came out in 2009.

Hermann has also made a name for himself as a translator. a. by authors such as Juan José Millás , Manuel Rivas , José Carlos Somoza and Zizou Corder .
