Hermann Sundesbeke
Hermann Sundesbeke (* in Münster ; † 1476 in Lübeck ) was a Lübeck merchant and councilor of the 15th century.
Life
The very wealthy Hermann Sundesbeke, who immigrated from Münster, had married his wife Margarethe Brunsvig alone for a fortune of 4,000 marks Lübisch . He was elected to the City Council in 1460. In 1465 he became a member of the patrician circle society and belonged to the Antonius Brotherhood, which had its altar in the castle church, but in 1457 built a booth in the Marienkirchhof to collect alms. He lived in the house at 43 Breiten Strasse .
Sundesbeke donated the stone statue of Saint Anthony with his coat of arms in the pedestal to the Marienkirche in Lübeck in 1457 . This sculpture influenced many later Antonius sculptures in the Baltic Sea region and also the later work of the Lübeck sculptor Benedikt Dreyer .
