Hermann Westphal (lawyer)

Hermann Westphal († December 14, 1607 in Greifswald ) was a Pomeranian legal scholar and director of the Wolgast court .

Life

Hermann Westphal was a son of the Greifswald councilor Johann Westphal. He was a doctor of both rights and in 1571 became professor at the University of Greifswald . In the same year he was elected rector of the university. In 1578 he was appointed to the Princely Council and in 1583 to the director of the ducal court in Wolgast.

He was married to Margarete Klinkow († August 12, 1622), daughter of Caspar Klinkow (1521–1560) and widow of Stralsund councilor Jürgen Möller. The daughter Maria was married to the Greifswald law professor Augustin Rhaw .
