history

In January 1202 the village was first mentioned in a document. The village belonged to the Allendorf monastery . Later it was a place in the office of Salzungen and from 1680 belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen . Hermannsroda was declared an independent place in 1850 and received a parish hall, a village square and an independent school.
