Mister Dis and Miss It is a short story by the French author Jules Verne . It was first published at Christmas 1893 under the French title Monsieur Ré-dièze et Mademoiselle Mi-bémol in Le Figaro illustré in Paris . Verne's son Michel Verne included the story in the anthology Hier et demain (published in German as Gestern und Morgen ). In this collection it was published in France in November and December 1910, along with other short stories by Jules Verne .

The story is laid out like a literary fantasy by Edgar Allan Poe or ETA Hoffmann . Mr Dis and Miss There are two children from Switzerland who were given these nicknames because they both have the same voice. Both sing in the church choir of the village of Kalfermatt. The organist and choir director Master Effarane is disturbed by the harmony of the two children. The diabolical choirmaster transforms the two choir children into organ pipes in their dreams .
