Herrenhölzle is a hamlet belonging to the Bretzfeld district of Unterheimbach in Hohenlohekreis in northern Baden-Württemberg .

geography

Herrenhölzle stands on top of a narrow plateau of about 350  m above sea level. NN between the valleys of Bernbach in the east and its small tributary Steinbach in the west, which is no longer 200 meters wide here and ends about 200 m further north in a spur on which Heimberg Castle once towered on the southern edge of the wide Brettachtalmulde . A good 100 m deeper in the Bernbachtal and as the crow flies about 700 m northeast of Herrenhölzle is the center of Unterheimbach, from where a winding road two and a half times as long opens up the little hamlet.

Up to a kilometer south of it, there is a varied, wide, open terrain with fields and meadows on the plateau (Flurgewann Salenäcker ). The northeast and east slopes down into the Bernbachtal are made up of vineyards and orchards, and at the bottom, a small body of water sometimes runs into the wooded Herrenklinge to the Bernbach. Towards the south, the agricultural areas on this slope turn more and more into forest (Gewann Sperrhalde ). The western slope to the less deeply cut Steinbach is completely wooded (Gewann Althölzle ).

history

Herrenhölzle was originally a single estate near Heimberg Castle. A house there is first mentioned in 1812. In 1827, Herrenhölzle was still referred to as a single homestead in the parish description, in which three families lived with a total of ten people. Today's loosely arranged building stock was essentially built after 1850. In 1865, 31 residents were counted.
