The manor house Damshagen in the municipality of the same name Damshagen in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is a two-storey manor house built in the classicist style from the early 20th century.

history

The former manor Damshagen belonged to Arpshagen in Klützer Winkel , with the Plessenburg located there, to the ancestral estates of the Mecklenburg line of the Knights of Plessen . Damshagen was owned by this ancient noble family from 1336 to 1945 . The castle and defense fortifications in Damshagen were razed in the Middle Ages and a half-timbered manor house was built on the site of the former castle complex. The owners of the Damshagen estate and manor house at that time included the Mecklenburg Chamberlain Hans Adolf von Plessen and subsequently his son August, who also became Chamberlain. The historical half-timbered manor house , probably built in the 17th century, with a half- hipped roof and bat dormers , was completely demolished in 1914 after the Plessen had the current manor house built south of the farmyard between 1913 and 1914. After the von Plessen family was expelled as part of the land reform in Germany , the manor house initially served as refugee accommodation; later it was used as a restaurant, cultural and residential building.
