description

The manor is located on the property of a manor I in Gestorf, which is owned by the von Ilten family. It is surrounded by a spacious yard with barns , stables, coach houses and other farm buildings . Adjacent used to be the manor garden, which was converted into a park in the 19th century .

history

The manor goes back to the estate of the von Ilten family in Gestorf since the 14th century. By the middle of the 19th century there were five manor estates in the village, three of which were merged under Wilhelm von Ilten to form manor I. With almost 3000 acres of land and forest, it was one of the largest holdings in the Calenberger Land .

The forerunner of the manor house was a half-timbered building built in 1794 , which was destroyed by fire in 1881. About 50 meters away from the burned down house, the manor house that exists today was built in a castle-like manner from 1883 to 1884.

After the end of the Second World War , the manor house was inhabited by displaced persons . The von Ilten family sold the house in 1954 to the Evangelical Aid Association, which used it as a home for the elderly . In 1997, the therapy facility STEP from Hanover acquired the manor house and has been using it, since extensive renovation of the interior, to reintegrate addicts .
