Weissenstein Castle

The Weißenstein rule was formed around the castle of the same name, first mentioned in 1241, which was converted into a castle in the 15th century. Until the beginning of the 15th century, ministerials of the Counts of Helfenstein exercised the power of rule. From 1401 to 1806 the territory belonged to the Lords of Rechberg . The Weißenstein lordship included the town of Weißenstein and the places Böhmenkirch , Nenningen , Schnittlingen and Treffelhausen . In the course of mediatization, the dominion of Weißenstein came first to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1806 and to Württemberg in 1810 . The possessions of the Weißenstein lordship were assigned to the newly formed Geislingen camera office.
