The Hesse GmbH & Co. KG , headquartered in Westphalian Hamm is the leading German manufacturer of paints and stains , especially for wood surfaces indoors.

Companies

The Hesse company was founded in 1910 by Fritz and Karl Hesse and is still family-owned today. The managing partners are currently Hans Jürgen Hesse and Jens Hesse, who run the company in the third and fourth generation, respectively.

More than 450 people are employed at the company's headquarters in Hamm, Westphalia, and another 50 abroad. In 2012, was training rate of 40 trainees over 9%. With more than 450 employees, the Hesse company is one of the largest employers in Hamm .

The Hesse Group has its own locations in Sweden, Denmark, Great Britain, Belgium, France, the Middle East and China.

Hesse has been selling its products under the Lignal brand since the company was founded . The name Lignal originated from a combination of the Latin term for wood (lignum) and the word signal. The brand name has become so established that Hesse Lignal is often accepted as a company.

Products

The product portfolio includes PUR and CN lacquers , UV, water and water-UV lacquers, stains, oils and waxes . Environmentally friendly and solvent-free products are becoming increasingly important. In 1996, Hesse introduced the “Pro Terra” product line, which guarantees production using purely renewable raw materials . Recipes are constantly being developed in order to meet the dynamic requirements of the market. In addition to environmental compatibility, for example, durability, productivity and shelf life are constantly checked. Every day around 100 tons of paints and stains are produced in Hamm on the basis of around 45,000 recipes.

Customers and Sales

The customer base ranges from craft businesses to industrial customers. In order to meet different customer requirements, all Hesse products are available in containers from 1 liter to 1000 liters. The Hesse-Lignal sales department is therefore structured and trained according to the different target groups.
