The Hestfjørður is a natural strait in the Faroe Islands . It separates the islands of Hestur and Koltur in the southwest from Streymoy in the northeast.

Hestfjørður takes its name from the island of Hestur. The name literally means "horse (island) fjord". On the Streymoyer side at Hestfjørður from south to north are the following places: Kirkjubøur , Gamlarætt (ferry port), Velbastaður and Syðradalur . On the islands of Koltur and Hestur there are the villages of the same name. To the southeast, the Hestfjørður flows into the Skopunarfjørður between Kirkjubøur and the southern tip of Hestur ; to the northwest in the Vágafjørður . Halfway there, the Kolturssund separates the islands of Hestur and Koltur.
