Heterodermia is a genus of lichen in the Physciaceae family.
description
Heterodermia are almost upright leaf lichens with a bearing diameter of up to 10 centimeters that are fused with the rootstock . Their upper side is pale greenish, whitish or pale grayish, many species are ciliate on the edge. The underside is white, tan brown or orange with pale or dark rhizines .
distribution
The genus Heterodermia has a large distribution area with around 80 species , especially in the tropics , but some species also occur in temperate latitudes. The white eyelash lichen ( Heterodermia speciosa ) rarely occurs in Germany.
Systematics
The genus Heterodermia was established in 1868 by Vittore Benedetto Antonio Trevisan de Saint-Léon (1818-1897). Synonyms for Heterodermia are Pseudophyscia garbage. Arg. And Chaudhuria Zahlbr. Type species is Heterodermia speciosa ( Wulfen ) Trevis.
