Hetz ( Hebrew חץ, German  arrow , an abbreviation of Hebrew חילונית ציונית, Secular Zionists ) was a secular Zionist party in Israel . It was created by splitting off from Schinui .

history

The Hetz (Secular Zionists) emerged during the 16th legislative period of the Knesset by splitting off from Schinui. In the nomination of candidates for the elections in Israel in 2006 was defeated Avraham Poraz Ron Levintal as the leading candidate. He then broke with the party and founded the Secular Zionists on January 26, 2006 together with 10 other Knesset members of the Shinui. On February 5, 2006, Chemi Doron and Eli'ezer Sandberg left the Secular Zionists and founded the National Home Party .

The new party could no longer register for the 2006 elections. The attempt to establish an alliance for the elections with Tafnit also failed. In the end they joined forces with the small party citizens and state , which ran for the elections as a hate speech. The association received 0.33 percent of the vote (10,113 votes in absolute terms), which was not enough for a place in the Knesset. But she was able to beat the Schinui in terms of votes, who achieved 4675 votes (0.16%) in the election.

In the run-up to the 2009 elections in Israel , Hetz tried to form a list connection with the Greens , which ultimately did not materialize.

Tzipi Livni took over the party in 2012 including the party's assets of 1.8 million NIS and formed the Ha-Tnu'a from it . Seven members of the Knesset moved from Kadima to the now renamed party.

Alignment

The political orientation of the Hetz (secular Zionists) is based on the Schinui . So she was in the political center , to be located liberal thoughts and secularism . She represented the introduction of a constitution that provided for the separation between state and religion , civil marriage and the abolition of advantages for Orthodox Jews ( military service and state subsidies for yeshivot ).
