Hidari Zima ( Japanese 左 島 'Left Island' ) is a small island off the Prince Harald Coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located in the Flatvær archipelago just off East Ongul Island .
Norwegian cartographers mapped them in 1946 using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen Expedition in 1936/37 . Japanese scientists named them in 1972 after their position in icebreaker trips from the open sea to Shōwa station .
