Hide Tanaka

Hide Tanaka ( Japanese 田中 英 , Tanaka Hide , born June 28, 1956 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese jazz musician ( double bass ).

Live and act

Tanaka started playing bass when she was 17; He had lessons from Yoshio Ikeda . In 1981 he was a member of the big band Blue Coats ; In 1982 he moved to New York City. In 1984 he became the house bass player in the Jazz Culture Theater ; he also performed in clubs such as Angry Squire or West End Cafe . I.a. he played with Walter Bishop Jr. , Cecil Payne , Hank Mobley , Benny Powell and Jaki Byard ; first recordings were made with guitarist Barry Glick. In the following years he played a. a. with Wade Barnes ( The Sounds, They Show Us , 1993, among others with James Zollar , Patience Higgins , Nick Levinovsky ), Steve Elmer ( I Used to Be Anonymous , with Shingo Okudaira ), from 2007 in the trio of pianist Junior Mance , on his Albums Live at Cafe Loup (2007), Our South (2008), Letter from Home (2011) and For My Fans, It's All About You (2015) he can be heard. In the field of jazz he was involved in twelve recording sessions between 1986 and 2015. He is currently working u. a. with Champian Fulton , Marc Devine , Michi Fuji and Steve Elmer.
