Hideyuki Ōhashi

Hideyuki Ōhashi ( Japanese 大橋 秀 行 , Ōhashi Hideyuki ; born March 8, 1965 in Yokohama , Japan ) is a Japanese boxing official and former boxer in the straw weight .

His older brother is the boxer Katsuyuki Ōhashi.

career

In 1985 he successfully started his professional career. On February 7, 1990, he boxed against Choi Jum-hwan for the WBC world championship and won by knockout. However, he lost this belt to Ricardo López in his second title defense in October of the same year .

On October 14, 1992, he was also WBA world champion when he unanimously beat Choi Hi-yong on points. This time he lost the belt in his first title defense in February of the following year against Chana Porpaoin by majority decision and then ended his boxing career.

On April 1, 2007 he was chairman of the Eastern Japan Boxing Association ( Higashi-Nihon Boxing Kyōkai ) and from April 1, 2010 was also chairman of the Japanese Professional Boxing Association ( Nihon Pro Boxing Kyōkai , JPBA). In 2013 he also became a director of the Japanese Boxing Commission ( Nihon Boxing Commission , JBC).
