Keitaro Hoshino

Keitarō Hoshino ( Japanese 星野 敬 太郎 , Hoshino Keitarō ; born August 14, 1969 in Yokohama , Japan ) is a former Japanese boxer in the straw weight .

Professional career

In 1988 he started his professional career. On December 6, 2000 he boxed against Joma Gamboa for the world championship title of the WBA association and won on points. He lost this belt to Chana Porpaoin in his first title defense in April of the following year .

In late January 2002 he became WBC World Champion when he again beat Joma Gamboa on points. As with the first time, Hoshino lost the belt in his first title defense at the end of July of the same year to Noel Arambulet .

In 2003 he ended his career and opened a boxing studio in Kakamigahara .
