The Hien-Sölde is a monument in Mitterfels in the Lower Bavarian district of Straubing-Bogen .

building

This former small farmhouse is one of the oldest known log buildings in Lower Bavaria . It can be assigned to the Waldlerhaus type . The first floor can be dendrochronologically dated to the year 1436. In the course of the last few centuries the building, a single-storey plastered block construction with a knee-high floor and a medium- pitched gable roof, has undergone some structural changes.

Location and surroundings

The location on Burgstrasse in connection with some architectural details suggests that this building was also important for the castle.

history

The current house name is made up of the last name of a previous owner, the innkeeper Hien and Sölde for the property of a small farmer. After the school was relocated from Kreuzkirchen to Mitterfels, Hien-Sölde, which was vacant at the time, became the first schoolhouse in Mitterfels between 1809 and 1831.

Awards for the renovation

The renovation work lasted three years and was officially concluded with the inauguration ceremony on November 22, 2013.

In 2014, the Lower Bavaria District Monument Prize went to the Freundeskreis Historische Hien-Sölde Mitterfels e. V. which was awarded for the exemplary restoration of the former small farmhouse Hien-Sölde in Mitterfels. The prize, endowed with 7,500 euros, was presented on October 9, 2014 at a ceremony. The laudator Dr. Philipp Ortmeier from the Niederbayern district's culture department was delighted that an “extraordinary building, unique in its kind here in Lower Bavaria and beyond”, has been preserved.

In 2015, Maria Birkeneder was able to receive the monument protection medal of the Free State of Bavaria for the friends' association .

use

The Hien-Sölde was used as a small farmhouse. After the agricultural property was closed in the second half of the 20th century, the house was inhabited until a few years ago. After a period of vacancy, a specially founded development association became the current owner of the historic building, which has set itself the goal of preserving this monument . After the complete renovation of the house, the Folk Music Center for Lower Bavaria and Upper Palatinate of the Bavarian State Association for Homeland Care has had its headquarters in this historically significant building since July 2013.
