Kreuzkirchen is a district of the Mitterfels market in the Lower Bavarian district of Straubing-Bogen .

history

Originating from a solitary courtyard with a small church owned by the Adelheid von Runding , Kreuzkirchen (formerly: Kritzenkirchen) was donated to the Oberalteich monastery in 1194 , combined with the obligation to hold Sunday services. In 1221 the donation was confirmed again in a document. The monastery parish in Kreuzkirchen, which was created around 1224, included the places Kreuzkirchen, Weingarten , Scheibelsgrub , Straßhof and Mitterfels . In 1734 the parish church of St. Margaret was enlarged. In the course of secularization , the parish seat was moved to Mitterfels in 1805. The church in Kreuzkirchen was then demolished in 1809. In 1809 the school was moved from Kreuzkirchen to Mitterfels. Because there was no schoolhouse there, lessons were held in Hien-Sölde until 1831 . The on-site shooting range 661/1 of the Graf Aswin barracks existed here until 1999 .
