The country panels of Apian occupy a widespread vineyards on the left bank of the Danube in Straubing / arc. Viticulture also moved a little into the foothills of the Bavarian Forest, also near Mitterfels. In Weingarten near Mitterfels, the Oberalteich monastery owned a farm, which should explain the origin of the place name.
