Gregorio Nicanor Peña Rodríguez (born March 12, 1942 in Baitoa , Dominican Republic ) is a Dominican clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia en Higüey .

Life

Gregorio Nicanor Peña Rodríguez received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Santiago de los Caballeros on June 22, 1968 .

On December 16, 1996, Pope John Paul II appointed him first bishop of the diocese of Puerto Plata, which was established on the same date . The Archbishop of Santiago de los Caballeros , Juan Antonio Flores Santana , donated him episcopal ordination on January 25, 1997 ; Co- consecrators were the bishop emeritus of Santiago de los Caballeros, Roque Adames Rodríguez , and the bishop of Baní , Príamo Pericles Tejeda Rosario . John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia en Higüey on June 24, 2004. The inauguration took place on August 21 of the same year.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on May 30, 2020.
