Roque Antonio Adames Rodríguez (born November 8, 1928 in Janico , Dominican Republic , † October 31, 2009 in Santiago de los Caballeros ) was Bishop of Santiago de los Caballeros.

Life

Roque Adames Rodríguez studied theology and philosophy at the diocesan seminary. He received his doctorate from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . At the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome he completed further studies. In 1954 he was ordained a priest .

Pope Paul VI appointed him bishop of Santiago de los Caballeros on 1966 . The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop and later Cardinal Octavio Antonio Beras Rojas on May 22, 1966; Co- consecrators were the bishops Hugo Eduardo Polanco Brito and Juan Félix Pepén y Soliman .

In 1992, his early resignation was granted by Pope John Paul II .

In 1967 he was the founder of the “Sierra Plan” initiative for the conservation and sensible use of natural resources. In 1976 he founded the weekly newspaper Camino (Weg).

He was rector of the Pontifical Catholic University “Mater et Magistra” (PUCMM) and professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) .
