Hieronymus Roth , since 1867 Knight of Roth , (born May 4, 1826 in Willomitz , Bohemia , † December 12, 1897 in Oberrohrbach , Lower Austria ) was an Austrian politician.

Life

After studying law in Prague, Roth worked as a lawyer in Trautenau from 1863 to 1870 and was mayor from 1864. Roth was with 18 other citizens in Prussian captivity for 80 days in Glogau . For this he received the honorary citizenship of the city and that of some neighboring towns. Emperor Franz Joseph I decorated him with the Order of the Iron Crown III. Class and knighted him. He was a member of the Landtag and a member of the Reichsrat for the constituencies of Trautenau, Arnau , Marschendorf , Schatzlar, Braunau and Politz. He spent the rest of his life on his Eichberg estate near Korneuburg , where he was also politically active. He wrote a book about his imprisonment in Prussia.
