Hilda Abraham

Hildegard Clara Abraham (born November 18, 1906 in Zurich ; † October 3, 1971 in London ) was a German psychoanalyst .

Life

Hilda Abraham was born in Zurich in 1906 as the daughter of Karl Abrahams , a pioneer of German psychoanalysis, and his wife Hedwig geb. Burgner born. She studied medicine at the universities of Berlin , Heidelberg and Vienna , passed the state examination in Berlin in 1932 and received her doctorate there in 1934 under Albert Köhler . As early as 1933 she had started a training analysis at the Berlin Psychoanalytic Institute .

In 1938 she emigrated to England, where she completed her psychoanalytic training in London . Abraham became a member and training analyst of the British Psycho-Analytical Society. In 1945 she received her British registration. She then worked for many years in London as a psychiatrist at the Paddington Clinic.
