Hilde of pride
Hilde von Stolz (born July 8, 1903 in Schäßburg , Austria-Hungary , † December 16, 1973 in Berlin ) was an Austro-German actress .
Live and act
The daughter of an officer attended the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and made her debut at the Kammerspiele there. She then worked at various theaters in Vienna and at the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm in Berlin.
She made her film debut in 1928 under the pseudonym "Helen Steels" and moved to Berlin that same year. In her second film role she acted as the leading actress alongside Reinhold Schünzel in his production Don Juan in the girls' school . Hilde von Stolz, who appeared under her real name from 1933, remained an important actress for a long time, but usually had to be content with major supporting roles. Mostly she embodied elegant ladies and also femmes fatales like the actress Lydia Link in Traumulus .
The film His Last Model, completed in 1936, was made in a German-Hungarian joint production . The actors were Hilde von Stolz, Otto Tressler , Rudolf Carl , Camilla Horn , the actor Paul Javor from the State Theater Budapest and the Hungarian baritone Alexander Svéd .
In 1939 she planned to emigrate, but this was prevented by the outbreak of World War II. During the war she appeared in several propaganda films . After that, she was rarely seen in the cinema. After her death, Hilde von Stolz was buried in the family vault at home.
