Hilger Schallehn

Hilger Schallehn (born January 4, 1936 ; † January 1, 2000 ) was a German composer , arranger , editor and choir director . He is best known for his compositions for choir and his arrangements of Christmas and church hymns. In his main job he worked for 27 years as a lecturer and head of the choir department of the Schott music publisher in Mainz. He was choirmaster of numerous amateur and chamber choirs, including the Nieder-Olm singers 'association from 1986 to 1990, and from 1987 onwards he was also the district choir director of the Mainz singers' group.
