Himmighausen is a district of Nieheim in the Höxter district , North Rhine-Westphalia . The place was first mentioned in 1015 in the Vita Meinwerci . Until it was incorporated on January 1, 1970, the place was an independent municipality in the Nieheim district .

geography

Himmighausen is located at the mouth of the Fischbach in the Emmer . Approx. 449 inhabitants live in the place, which lies in the mountain valley at the foot of the Egge Mountains. As of December 31, 2016. In the Himmighausen-Bahnhof district is the Lindenberg, which reaches a height of 288 m above sea level. The old Antonius linden tree stands on the mountain.

The all-German educational facility, which was built in 1926 as a children's home, is located in Himmighausen-Bahnhof. At that time, children from the Ruhr area were sent to a spa stay and medically cared for as part of the so-called Kinderlandverschickung . After the Second World War, the German Youth of the East ( expellees ) and later the German Youth in Europe bought the building. She uses the latter organization for children's camps and offers for experiential education.

The Himmighausen station is on the Hanover – Altenbeken railway line . The single-track railway to Herford via Detmold and Lage branches off here. However, all passenger trains pass through the station without stopping. A reactivation of the station is under discussion.
