H. mostly the children of the locals who were allowed to build in the place. One of the oldest, still existing buildings is undisputedly the "old mill" in the valley of the village, not far from today's Löschwasserteich , as well as the Magdalenenkapelle in the middle of the village.

The village used to belong to Unterkochen , which at that time in turn belonged to Ellwangen (Jagst) .

Magdalenenkapelle

The Magdalenenkapelle is a small, very old chapel and one of the landmarks of Himmlingen.

You can find it in the middle of the village of Himmlingen, not far from the village square. The top of the chapel protrudes only slightly over the roofs. The year of construction can only be guessed at, as no records of the construction have survived. In this regard, it was only established that it was mentioned as early as 1385 in the valid book of Abbot Albrecht Hack. He was responsible for the office in Kochburg, which was then based in Ellwangen . It is actually known from church records that the church tower was erected much later, not until 1723.

After a two-year thorough renovation by the citizens of Himmlingen, the cathedral capitular Bour and Dean Baumann celebrated with a re-inauguration on September 15, 1985.

The altar and the figures, which mostly come from the late Gothic period, as well as the figure (left side wall) of Pope Leo IX are unique . (A.D. 1049-1054).

Later, a new bell for casting was also commissioned, which found its destination in the Magdalenenkapelle in the bell tower and was named “St. Magdalena ”was consecrated.

Today there is a regular service once a month, attended by believers from near and far.

In addition, twice a year (in May) it is the starting point for petitions followed by church services. Once the prayer starts in Unterkochen , once in Aalen (above the furry meadows).

Baierstein

Another landmark of Himmlingen as well as a natural monument is the Baierstein. It is a small rock massif with a cross that emerges from the forest northeast over Himmlingen. The Baierstein belongs to the natural area of Albuch and Härtsfeld (protected area number: 81360880021).

Likewise, there was a restaurant of the same name in the middle of the village until the late 1990s, which was very popular with hikers to stop and was finally demolished in 2001.
