Oberamt Kochburg

The (Upper) Office of Cooking Castle was an office of the Prince Provosty of Ellwangen .

history

In 1317 Ellwangen acquired half of the Kocherburg , in 1438 the rest. The castle was the core of the Ellwangen exercise of power in the area and became the seat of the bailiff.

The office has been known as the Oberamt since the 17th century. At the head was a noble bailiff.

In anticipation of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss effective in 1803 , the Upper Office in Cookingburg with the Prince Provost came to Württemberg in 1802 ( Kingdom since 1806 ) and was assigned to the new Upper Office in Aalen .

At the end of the HRR, the Oberamt Kochburg consisted of the following components: Kochburg, Oberkochen , Unterkochen , Beuren , Glashütte , Himmlingen , Reslau , Simmisweiler , Unterrombach and a number of courtyards.
