Hinamatsuri ( Japanese ヒ ナ ま つ り ) is a manga series by Masao Ōtake that has been published in Japan since 2009. It belongs to the genres of comedy and his own and tells about two girls from another world who are stranded in modern Tokyo . It was adapted as an anime television series in 2018 .

action

One day the Yakuza Yoshifumi Nitta ( 新 田 義 史 ) falls in his own apartment with a ball that appears out of nowhere on the head, from which a girl appears. The girl, whom he soon calls Hina ( ヒ ナ ), has supernatural powers and can make objects float - just like him or his beloved collection of valuable vases, which breaks in the process. Since he can't throw the headstrong girl out without her causing more destruction, Nitta reluctantly takes her in. He tries to educate her, above all so that she does less harm, which he soon succeeds through her voracity. Because it is easy for Nitta to reward her with good food or to let her go empty-handed if she cannot behave. Over time, however, he has to explain to those around him why a young girl lives with him, and so everyone soon sees her as his illegitimate daughter. Many are beginning to like Hina, such as Nitta's subordinate at Yakuza Sabu or the landlady Utako Sakura ( 桜 詩 子 ) of the Little Song bar, which he frequently visits.

But soon another girl with supernatural powers appears, who has pursued Hina and was tasked with defeating her: Anzu. However, since she fails, she cannot go back and is suddenly stranded in Tokyo. Anzu is not taken in by anyone and therefore moves to the homeless in the nearby city park. At least they do their best to take care of Anzu. They teach her where to find money or collect rubbish to give it to money. Anzu, for example, has to live very modestly in an improvised hut, while Hina can have a good time with the wealthy Yakuza. In addition, Hina is now going to school, where she befriends Hitomi Mishima ( 三 嶋 瞳 ). This friendship brings bad luck: She ends up in Utako's bar and ends up helping out. But she quickly finds it fun, especially since Hitomi earns good money with it, so she likes to continue working there, although she shouldn't be able to do so at her age. Hitomi gets into trouble again and again when her teacher walks into the bar or her classmates spy on her.

Although Hina doesn't do as much damage as she did in the beginning, Nitta keeps getting into trouble with her. Above all, she is lazy, never lends a hand and is also bad at school. But after he threw them out one day, he not only reaps the horror of everyone around him, but also realizes that he has taken them to his heart. So he takes Hina back - who now also wants to be better - and finally even introduces her to his mother as his daughter. During this time, the homeless are driven out of the park. For Anzu Utako finally finds a family that takes her in. From then on, she lived with an elderly couple who ran a Chinese restaurant, where Anzu also worked hard to help.

While Hina and Anzu are spending their everyday lives, other representatives of their organization come from their homeland to look for the two girls and bring them back. But Mao, the first and also a girl who is friends with them, is stranded on a lonely island and does not come back into her world. She survives through her supernatural powers and after some time builds a raft with which she finally comes to China. There she lives poorly at first, but is then taken in by a monastery that advertises with her strength. When a musician inspired by Hina appears and wants to learn her strength from her, she travels with him to Japan to finally find Hina. Another representative of the organization observes Hina and fears that she is still as unpredictable and irrepressible as before. But she realizes that Hina has changed and is no longer a danger to her surroundings. But she can't go back either, because Nitta threw away Hina's travel capsule. So Hina can continue to live her everyday life with Nitta, who takes her more and more to the heart - even if she causes him many problems in the Yakuza. In other situations, such as on a school trip, Hina's powers are again helpful.
