Hiroki Ioka

Hiroki Ioka ( Japanese 井岡 弘 樹 , Ioka Hiroki ; born January 8, 1969 in Sakai ) is a former Japanese boxer in light fly and straw weight .

His nephew is the boxer Kazuto Ioka .

Professional career

In 1986 he started his professional career successfully. On October 18, 1987, already in his 9th fight, he boxed in the straw weight against Mai Thomburifarm for the vacant belt of the WBC and won clearly and unanimously on points. Ioka defended this title twice and lost it to Napa Kiatwanchai in November of the following year by majority decision.

On December 17, 1991, he was WBA light flyweight world champion when he won against Myung Woo Yuh by split point decision. He lost this belt after a total of two successful title defenses in the rematch on November 18 of the following year to Myung Woo Yuh on points.

In 1998 he ended his career.

In 2002 he opened the Ioka Boxing Gym in Osaka . In 2007 he made up his high school diploma and began studying at Osaka University of Economics .
