Hiroko Ōta

Hiroko Ōta ( Japanese 大田 弘 子 , Ōta Hiroko ; born February 2, 1954 in Kagoshima , Kagoshima Prefecture ) is a Japanese politician and was Minister of State for Economic and Tax Policy from September 2006 to August 2008. She is not a member of parliament .

Ōta studied sociology at Hitotsubashi University . From 1976 to 1981 she worked for the pearl company Mikimoto & Co., Ltd. employed. She then worked in research, initially for the Japan Institute of Life Insurance ( 生命 保 険 文化 セ ン タ ー , seimei hoken bunka sentā ), then between 1993 and 2002 at the Universities of Osaka , Saitama and finally as a professor at the Seisaku Kenkyū Daigakuin Daigaku (" Graduate College for Political Studies ”, National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies ). In 2002 Ōta became an economic policy advisor in the cabinet office . Prime Minister Shinzō Abe appointed her to his cabinet as Minister of State for Economic and Tax Policy in 2006 . She was one of two non-parliamentary ministers - the other was Hiroya Masuda . When Yasuo Fukuda's cabinet reshuffle in August 2008, Ōta was no longer reappointed.

Ōta has been a professor at Seisaku Kenkyū Daigakuin Daigaku since 2008, and has also been the deputy rector since 2009.
