Hiroto Inoue ( Japanese 井上 大仁 ; born January 6, 1993 ) is a Japanese long-distance runner . He is ranked 5th in the all-time best list of Japanese marathon runners .

Athletic career

Hiroto Inoue gained his first international experience at the 2014 Half Marathon World Championships in Copenhagen , where he finished 36th with 1:02:25 h. He also won the Yokohama half marathon in 1:04:07 hours this year. In 2017 he qualified in the marathon for the World Championships in London , where he finished 26th in 2:16:54 h . In 2018 he won the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2:18:22 h, just ahead of Bahraini El Hassan el-Abbassi . Due to the high temperatures, this was the slowest winning time at the Asian Games in over 30 years.

Inoue is a graduate of Yamanashi University .
