Hiroyuki Ebihara

Hiroyuki Ebihara ( Jap. 海老原博幸 , Ebihara Hiroyuki * 26. March 1940 in Tokyo , Japan ; † 20th April 1991 ), actually Hiroyuki Matsuda ( 松田博幸 , Matsuda Hiroyuki ), was a Japanese boxer in the flyweight . He was managed by Masaki Kanehira and trained by Eddie Townsend .

Professional career

On September 18, 1963 he boxed against Pone Kingpetch for the world championship title of the associations WBA and WBC and won by classic knockout in round 1. However, he lost this belt in his first title defense in January of the following year in the rematch at Kingpetch through a split judge's decision.

He was able to win the WBA world championship belt again with a unanimous victory over Jose Severino at the end of March 1969. Also this time he lost the belt in his first title defense in October of the same year to Bernabe Villacampo on points.

After this defeat, Hiroyuki Ebihara ended his career.
