Hiroyuki Nishimoto

Hiroyuki Nishimoto ( Japanese 西 本 裕 行 , Nishimoto Hiroyuki ; born January 3, 1927 , † April 19, 2015 ) was a Japanese actor and voice actor.

Life

Hiroyuki Nishimoto was a member of the Bungakuza theater company and during this time founded the Gekidan Kumo ( 劇 団 雲 ) company in 1963 , which was active until 1975. From 1976 he was part of Gekidan Subaru ( 劇 団 昴 ) and played roles in Shakespeare's works , as well as stage adaptations of John Steinbeck's Fruits of Anger or Shūsaku Endōs Silence (Chinmoku) .

He also had smaller film roles, such as in The Woman in the Dunes (1964), Kyūketsuki Gokemidoro (1968), Yajūgari (1973), Yajū Shisubeshi (1974), Wagahai wa Neko de aru (1975) or Shōsetsu Yoshida Gakkō (1980) , and on television such as Jinjitsu Ichiro (1961), Onna no Sakamichi (1973), Kashin (1977), Ao ga Chiru (1983-1984), among others

His voice is better known in Japan than that of Snufkin in the animated series Moomin (1969-1970), as well as in its remake (Shin Moomin) from 1972. He was also a dubbing voice in several Disney films such as Alice in Wonderland as Mad Hatter , The many adventures of Winnie the Pooh as the Owl, Uncle Remus' Wonderland as the narrator and Robin Hood as Alan A'Dale.

Nishimoto died on April 19, 2015 of an aortic dissection , leaving behind his wife Akiko.
