Hiroyuki Urano ( Japanese 浦 野 裕 之 , Urano Hiroyuki ; born September 24, 1981 ) is a Japanese archery biathlete and cross-country skier .

After graduating from Iiyama South High School , he began studying at the Japanese Sport University .

In 2002 and 2003, Urano competed several times in international cross-country skiing races in the Continental Cup , but without achieving outstanding results.

Hiroyuki Urano began archery biathlon in 2004 under the influence of Kōji Yamamoto and Takuya Yamada .

Hiroyuki Urano celebrated his greatest successes at the last World Championships in 2007 in Moscow . In the sprint he won the bronze medal behind Pawel Borodin and Konstantin Pogorelow . In the pursuit race he was able to push past them and thanks to just one mistake in the kneeling attack in front of Vladimir Evtjukov and Vyacheslav Tikhonrawov, he became the first Japanese ever to win a title. The mass start race was less successful, in which Urano was only seventh due to five mistakes. The individual went better again. Spurred on by Urano's performance, his teammate Takuya Yamada won the title ahead of Kirill Malzew and Urano. At the last international championships so far, the Open Archery Biathlon European Championships 2008 , also in Moscow, Urano was the best non-Russian starter, seventh in the sprint and pursuit and sixth in the mass start race.

He won the Japanese Championships from 2006 to 2009, including 2008 in the sprint and the pursuit. He also won the Ozawa Cup in 2008. In 2011 he won the International Cup in Kijimadaira in the sprint pursuit.

In addition, since 2009 he has been taking part in trail running competitions like Takuya Yamada in summer and in snowshoeing and ice triathlon competitions in winter, where he also won titles.
