The Hirschgrund is a side gorge of the Bodetal in the Harz near Thale in the Harz district , Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located on the right, southern bank of the Bode and drops steeply from La Viershöhe (478.9 meters) in a north-easterly direction to the bottom of the Bodetal near Königsruhe (200 meters). As the crow flies, the length of the Hirschgrund is about 400 meters.

The Hirschgrundweg, which connects the area of ​​the Hexentanzplatz with the Bodetal, runs through the Hirschgrund in many serpentines . The area in the Bodetal into which the Hirschgrund joins, in the vicinity of the Jungfernbrücke , is also counted as the Hirschgrund. At times the Königsruhe inn also bore the name Hirschgrund. There at the lower end there is also the stamp point 178 Hirschgrund of the Harz hiking pin .
