The Hirschmann Automotive GmbH is an international automotive supplier based in Rankweil ( Vorarlberg , Austria ). Today the company produces and develops plug connections, contacting and sensor systems, special cable solutions and plastic overmoulding of various automotive components.
history
In 1959 the company was founded as Richard Hirschmann Electronic GmbH in Rankweil. At that time, the focus was on the development and production of communications equipment such as transmitters, receivers and antennas. In 1980 the company entered the field of connector technology and cables for loudspeaker systems in cars. In 1988 cable sets for the engine were also produced (e-gas, idle speed control). In 1991 the production capacity was expanded with a new building. Two years later there was a joint venture with the Trend-V company in the Czech Republic. In 1995 a sales office was opened in Turin (Italy). Two years later, Hirschmann was taken over by Rheinmetall AG and they established themselves as a development supplier for engine contacts.
In 2001, the company entered the sensor technology product field . One year later Trend-V was taken over and the Hirschmann Czech company was founded . In 2003, the production of micro gas generators started and Hirschmann was taken over by F&R Industriebeteiligungen GmbH (then: F&R Industrie Invest GmbH) (Franz and Roman Rauch; Rauch fruit juices ) and got its current name Hirschmann Automotive GmbH . In 2006 electrical connectors without contact parts (KTL) were developed and the "Passive Safety" product group was sold. In 2007 a location was set up in Romania and Hirschmann Romania was founded . In 2009 a sales office was opened in Braunschweig (Germany). In 2012 the company Hirschmann Kenitra was founded in Morocco and another location was put into operation. One year later, Hirschmann (Nantong) Automotive Co., Ltd. was founded. in China and in 2014 a sales office was opened in Shanghai. In 2015, Hirschmann Automotive Mexico S. de RL de CV was founded in Mexico. At the same time a sales office was opened in Detroit (USA).
Companies
Today (as of 2016) the Hirschmann Group operates seven plants in six countries. At the headquarters in Rankweil (Austria), in Vsetín ( Czech Republic ), two plants in Târgu Mureș ( Romania ) and one each in Morocco , PR China and Mexico . There are also five sales offices in Braunschweig ( Germany ), Orbassano ( Italy ), Detroit ( USA ) and Shanghai (PR China).
The shareholders are 99.9 percent of F&R Industriebeteiligungen GmbH (Franz and Roman Rauch; Rauch fruit juices ) and 0.05 percent each of the Rätikon Privatstiftung eV and R&R Privatstiftung eV
